Urban Pest Control is about to celebrate 10 years in the industry which is a great achievement. Imagine all the customers they have helped with their pest problems in that time! As with many pest controllers out there, Matt started out working for one of our well-known national companies but found they lacked the personal touch when dealing with customers. He realised that there was a gap in the market for a bespoke pest control company that listened to and catered for the individual customer who had a pest issue. As we all know, these situations are often very distressing for a client and they need to know they are heard along with the reassurance that their problem will be solved.

Kelly, Matt’s wife, joined Urban as a director and together they have grown the company into the reliable, professional, independent company they are today. Urban Pest Control now has 8 members of staff made up of friendly technicians and a happy admin team. You only need to look at their reviews to see this team gets great results for their customers. The secret to their success is simply putting the customer's needs first. Not only does this mean understanding the problem, but also factoring in time constraints, budgets available and customer expectations. The winning entry for August’s Defender® Installer of the Month was a bird-proofing job at an ambulance depot that supplies the NHS. The depot had roller shutter doors which we all know can cause continuous issues with pigeons gaining access, combined with a void behind the shutters and the many ledges and pipes that provide perfect perches. This was a two-day installation needing a cherry picker to reach those tricky bits. The best solution was to use a combination of bird-proofing solutions – netting, galvanised mesh and of course Defender® Bird Spikes including the Defender® Thistle and Defender® Wide Steel. This combo will prevent nesting birds from returning while also reducing the debris that birds produce. So where does Urban Pest Control cover, I hear you cry! They provide pest control services across the South Coast, including Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Wimborne, Dorchester and Weymouth. They are based in Poole, Dorset but also cover areas in Hampshire and Wiltshire. They also don’t just do bird-proofing. They provide pest management services for all pests, such as rats and mice control, wasp nest removal, moles, squirrels and insects like fleas and bed bugs.
